Lost 3rd! on 2004 4L60E
Ok so i was looking at other posts and still could not find what i was looking for!
I have read other people loosing 3rd gear, but, no help.
What i need to know is, is it the band or the solinoids or maybe the valve body?
it does work when it shifts to 3rd, it just has to be at a high rpm.
This happend after the guy that sold it to me did not hook up the oil cooler lines to the rad, he just put on an after maket cooler on which did not keep it cool enogh. i did not know this till it over heated.

This seems to be a common problem. My 99 4L60E lost 3rd and 4th a few months ago. I searched and determined it is common for a clutch pack to fail for these gears. Well, I used this as an opportunity to upgrade, so I bought a new Stage V 4L65E from RPM Transmissions.

Oh Yes!!! I also replaced my torque converter, since the fluid was contaminated. I got a Vigalante 2600, 3-disc stall converter from RMP as well. I also replaced my diff with a new 3-rib level 3 3.42 from RPM. Lastly, I had my torque torque rebuilt with a new larger propeller shaft, and several other goodies.
