Default I am so P@##$d

I was planning to leave Thursday morning to drive from Vancouver to Edmonton with my daughter for the Indy ....today at 5 pm as I started home I got the Pull Key Wait 10 Seconds message followed by Check Column Lock....now I know this is a common problem but the G-D dealer just did the bypass less then a month ago...

The vette is now at the dealer and tomorrow my rant will continue with the service rep. Last month it took them 2 weeks to get the relay from back East

i dont understand why anyone goes to the dealer to get it fixed, when theres just as many stories of it happening again after they 'fix' it. all you have to do is get the 20$ clb bypass box and be DONE with it FOREVER! takes 30min!

I was soooo glad that the previous owner already took care of this!! Its such a PIA for alot of people and it s a matter of time in all C5s.

Well...the first trip to the dealer was just being lazy...that was 2 months ago. The car was there to get the rear diff seal replaced when the Column Lock was triggered. Three weeks later I got the car back just before I went away for 3 weeks I'm back 2 weeks before I'm away for essentially the rest of the summer....so when I get a chance I will do the bypass discuused so much on this board in the mean-time my car wouldn't move....so unless someone was going to deliver the bypass to a mall parking lot I needed to get the car fixed. I did expect the dealer fix to last more then 1 month...silly me

Oh...I bought this car from a forum member and brought it up to Canada last year...no problems till now

Since getting the CLB to Vancouver within 24 hrs is unlikely I will look at getting the fuel shutoof reprogrammed if I can find someplace to do it today or early tomorrow. The dealer has not charged me for the Column Lock fix as it is a recall issue

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem as just about everyone with a C5. It stinks to have things happen right before a trip. Did you try clearing all the codes to see if this will let you drive it?

To update...turns out the dealer had just tried to reprogram the Column Lock...luckily someone else had their vette in and the dealer had the GM harness brought in. That person didn't need their vette back right away and generously let them install the harness in my car. I know, I know, its not a permanent fix...I will do either the retune or the aftermarket bypass when I get back from my trip.....and I won't ask for any sympathy if the Check Column Lock triggers bewtween Vancouver and Edmonton
