Default 2004 window problems

Hello guys,

this is not on my 2000 C5 but on my father-in-law's 2004 C5 coupe. It's a 6spd car with all the options and only has 32,000 miles. The passenger window quit working and other than that it has no other symptoms. When you depress the window switch you can feel the switch activate but nothing happens with the window. I am guessing something is loose in the door harness. Tonight I will have access to the car and would like to address this issue. with the door open can I just pull out the accordian tubing and check the connectors that way or do I need to remove the door inner molding completely? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This usually happens from non-use of the window more than anything. Try rapping downward on the window while pushing the down switch. The motor windings get corroded from non-use therefore stop working. If this works, just use it more often. If not, you'll need to pull the inside panel off to access the motor which is easy to do.

My car had the same problem. My motor was stuck. I removed the door panels. Then removed the window, and motor/regulator. Then I took the motor out, respooled the cables and it worked fine. Good luck.

mine did the same thing so i went out and bough a new motor assembly and installed it. It turned out to be the door control module instead. My car only had 15k miles on it at the time. Not sure which problem yours is but just throwing it out there for ya. good luck.

I have this exact problem w/my '04 passesnger side. Rapping on the center of the door worked exactly once. Maybe I'll pull the panel and nose around inside.

If you get the motor unstuck, try bumping the window down a fraction of an inch to keep it from happening again.
Since the windows do not have limit switches, and simply stop by stalling the motor, I think the drive mechanism gets in a bind and jams the motor.
Bumping the motor down a little, unloads the drive gears and motor.
