Default Headlight warning bell not working

99 coupe. When I leave my headlights on and remove the key my warning bell is not working. It also does not work to remind you to close door with key in ignition. Has anyone else had this problem?? Where is the bell located??

I think the audible warning comes from the IPC. Check for diagnostic codes and post them if you don't have a Service Manual.

The funny thing is I find the warning bell a total PITA. I wish I could fix mine so it works like yours

byronhunter is correct. The warning chime is a function built into the IPC but its controlled by the BCM. As you can see the troubleshooting guide tries to isolate whether the fault is with one of the functions that is being monitored or whether its a control failure. If its the latter the solution is a replacement BCM. I'm sure I wouldn't buy a new BCM to bring back that annoying "bong bong".

Chime Inoperative

Step

Action

Yes

No

Schematic Reference: Audible Warnings Schematics

1. Did you perform the Audible Warning Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Audible Warnings

2.
1. Turn ON the ignition.
2. Buckle the driver's seat belt.

Is the fasten seat belt indicator inoperative?

Go to Seat Belt Indicator Circuit Malfunction in Seat Belts

Go to Step 3

3. Turn the headlamps on.

Are the headlamps on?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - Low and High Beams in Lighting Systems

4. Open the driver's door.

Does the DIC display DOOR AJAR?

Go to Step 5

Go to Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative in Doors

5. Important

Program the replacement BCM.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

--

6. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK

Go to Step 2

Heres the schematic if you want to dig further. Its controlled by fuse #19 in the footwell

My original 97 cluster never chimed either (I actually left the parking lights on the first week I had the car). Once I upgraded to the HUD and an 02 cluster, they started working (actually startled me). Has to be in the cluster.

That is what I'm afraid of. I do not want to get into changing cluster. I'm thinking of selling the car and I want to fix everything within reason and this is not anything I want to mess with.
BTW how much did you pay for a cluster and how did you correct the miles??
