Cam Install Prep

Parts:
Cam
head gaskets
possibly intake manifold gaskets
possibly new throtle body gasket
possibly an underdrive pulley and matching belt
new head bolts or studs (OEM are one time use)
new springs and pushrods depending on the cam being installed
possibly new lifters depending on age (new LS7 lifters are about .060" longer than OEM due to cup design, affects pushrod length)
possibly new oil pump and "O" rings (buy 2 rings)
possibly new timing chain SET (don't just buy the chain)
timing cover gasket
crank seal
new crank bolt (again, OEM are not reusable)
"Must have" tools:
240 ft/lb torque wrench for crank bolt
3 jaw puller for dampener removal
dampener installation tool
18mm flair nut wrench for steering rack removal
patience
M6 or 12 put in 4th gear, Automatic needs a means of holding the crank for crank bolt removal
Other guys will chime in with more stuff. Check with Bill Curlee or Vettenuts for some of the best info available. They're experienced, knowledgeable and almost always willing to help. You won't get better advice. Good luck.
