Default Advice on TB and MAF

Ok i have a stock 1998 ls1, i have purchased LS6 intake, cam, heads, new timing chain ect. All i need now is a LS6 intake and MAF. I found some on ebay that are ported along with factory ls1 MAF ported. what do i need to get the best performance without sinking a ton of money into these two items? The MAF on ebay would let me retain my factory harness, there about $50 w/ core. Any advice will help, thanks in advance.

A larger TB will likely help you a bit, but the larger MAF isn't going to do much except make your wallet lighter...You could look at a Shaner ported TB ($125) http://www.s2performance.net/vettepage.html

I would be suspicious of a 'ported' LS6 manifold. I haven't heard about these being ported much due to the fact that it's hard to get inside these and port them. If it is indeed ported I would buy one that has been ported by a reputable shop. i.e. Cartek, Vengence, Tony Mamo, etc. There are a ton of porters out there, not all of them get great results. I ported my 75mm throttle body, and I got good results, but that doesn't make me a porter. I'm sure you know, but I'll remind you that 'porting' doesn't necessarily translate into higher performance, especially if not done properly.

When your finished with your latest project, please let us know how it came out.
