Default comp 921's or prc duals?

Hey guys, I'm preparing to install a g5x3 cam and I'm stuck on which dual valve spring set to purchase. obviously the comps are much better as the price is higher than the prc's and I hear LG uses the comps in their builds. however the prc's are considerably cheaper. the car is a DD and I'll only be getting on it once and awhile...so what do you think? Is it worth the extra money...Thanks

I don't think it's worth the extra money. The 921s and Patriot Golds are both proven valve springs with relative low failure and comparable service life. I've only installed one set of PRCs and that person has been happy AFAIK. You might also consider Patriot Gold springs too. They are a few bucks cheaper than the PRCs.

comp 921

i tried to save some money too and got the prc springs and with my G5X3 cam, they lasted less than 100 miles 4 springs broke. it could have been a bad batch or somethin but after that i got comp 921 and been good so far.

I am having my set of PRC duals replaced as we speak because they went weak and shrunk in less than 5k miles. I am running 232/234 .595/.598.

The people who spec'd the cam should spec the springs and installed height. I know LG says to use 921's. Be thankful. My cam guy told me to run PAC 1521's. $$$ I ride better knowing I've got the best drop in spring available in the car.

I have the g5x3 112 cam. Trust me, I studied hard, really wanting to save the money. But my research lead me to purchase the 921 kit.

Good luck.

For what it is worth, we only use the Comp 921 springs. We have found these to be the longest lasting, most dependable spring to use with our cams.

921s.

remember, its not only what lift the spring is rated at.....its also how "stable" the valve train is.

The 921 is just plain and simply a far superior spring.

Comp 921s are quieter too so youll have less of that sewing machine noise with any cammed car.
