Default More A/C problems...

Ok. I replaced the compressor, the orifice tibe, and the drier. System holds 29" vacuum for 15 minutes, no leak. They go to charge the system. System pressures are 90psi on low side, 150psi on the high side. It was 82 degrees out with 65% humidity. Still not cooling. Whats the problem? New compressor is bad (btw it is a reman)?

Hi,
Pressures like that , assuming there is no air in the system act like you either have a cracked or warped orifice tube, or a bad suction valve in the reman comp. At that temp and humidity, you should strive for about 33psig low, and 240psig high with a center vent temp of 56 degrees at 2000 rpm. The capacity of the system is 1.75 lbs r134. Also did you add the proper amount of oil to the drier and comp before recharge. And if you recharge with the can upside down it is very easy to crack a comp valve.

PS- one other thing you should check is the condenser, if it is badly clogged or dirty it will give you high low and high side pressures, which is not your current problem, but if you are replacing all the other parts, don't overlook cleaning the condenser for an optimal running system.

I added 2.5oz of oil to the compressor, 2oz to the drier, and an ounce back into the condensor before install. I had a shop do the recharge. They added 3.5 oz more oil. Before they added the 1.75lbs of freon, they vacuumed the system of moisture.

While at the shop, we pulled the orifice tube out and inspected it. It was fine.

As far as the condensor, I flushed it out as well as the rest of the lines.

Hi, ok it appears that you put the adequate amount of oil in, and that they charged the proper amount of r134, as for as looking at the orifice tube, I thought you replaced it with a new one, it is really difficult to see a defect in them unless it is huge, But if it is unwarped or unbroken then you have a comp problem with the reman. In flushing the condenser, it also should be washed out from the outside making sure that all the fins are clean and clear. Careful with the hose, the fins warp easily. Your only solution now is to double check the o tube, and if good pull the comp and start again.

Yeah, they assumed the orifice tube could be put in wrong. So, they recommended we pull it out and look at it since it only takes 10 mins. It is a new one, and they said I did it right. They told me they the compressor is not sucking. Which really really sucks!

Whats a good way to wash the condensor fins?
