Default Differential fluid change?

I'm up to 145,000 miles on my 2000, but haven't had my differential fluid changed yet. At this late point, should I change it or am I best to just leave the old fluid in it?

Cheap PM, I would say you have nothing (well I guess the cost of the change) to lose.

Don't leave it... change it....

buy 2 qts quality synthetic gear oil 75W90 and 1 bottle of GM limited slip additive ( or the aftermarket additive)

puit in the additive first and them fill with the gear oil.... you should get about 1.7 qts of the gear oil in

Is your brake fluid clear or black?? May be time to change that also.

Thanks for the replies. I questioned whether to change it because I've read that with transmissions if you haven't changed the fluid by 100K, it's better to leave the old fluid in there.

One caveat however. Make SURE you know that whichever brand of lube you choose, either DOES or DOES NOT already have the limited slip additive already in it. SOME BRANDS DO. Red Line and Amsoil most notably. Not sure about Royal Purple.

Point being, if a lube already has the limited slip additive premixed in the product, and then you go and add yet another full bottle of additive on top of that, it could easily wind up being entirely too much additive in total and cause excess slippage of the clutch plates, etc.
If in doubt, check it out. Other than that, it's a pretty much straightforward drain/refill deal.
