Leaking Transmission
Alright guys I need some help. I just took my car in for a good check over at our family friend mechanic. He told me that the car was leaking a small amount of transmission fluid out of the transmission where the two parts bolt together. He also said that he hadn't ever worked on one of these and really wasn't going to have the time to do it for a week or so. I am going back to college in a couple weeks and would like to get this done fairly soon. What I am wanting to know is there a good thread that has been made on fixing the problem of the leaking "butt"? Also is this something that can tackled at home. I am fairly mechanical and built the engine for my Cobra. Any help would be appreciated. I am wanting to know if the trans has to be removed from the car, and if so is there a step by step on here on how to go about removing it? Also is there anything else that should be done to the car while the trans is out? The trans has zero problems, I just can't stand to have a car that leaks anything no matter how small. Well thanks for the couple guys that pmed me a few links to the process. I decided to let the shop that has done all the work on my cars do it. They had the car 3 days and I went ahead and did a bearing kit and installed some stronger gears along with axles. Thanks to the ones that helped out.
