Quit driving it so hard. It only engages when you're flogging the poor thing. :-)
OK, just kidding. Pull codes....that'd be your best bet to figure out what's going on. All kinds of things are tied to the active handling/stability control.....brakes, brake fluid, abs system, etc. I was once low on brake fluid and I was getting active handling errors displayed to me.
