I'm doing a h/c swap on my '99 and received a JP Performance double roller set for a gift. I'm inclined to just get a LS2 chain since it's really simple, but was wondering how difficult it is to install a double roller. I've searched and found little other than some say it's a pita, others say it's no big deal at all. Anybody have actual personal experience? I'll be using the stock oil pump.
Thanks
Scott

With the stock pump there are no issues using the spacers that come with the double roller.

I did not have the same experience, when I installed a Rollmaster double roller setup. The spacers moved the pump out far enough that the timing cover was hitting the pump. I had to grind some material off the pump where the Allen head screw goes into the bottom of the pump and also in the same area on the opposite side of the pump. The cover is too thin to do any grinding on it. At the time, the other option was to have the back side of the pump casting machined, so the pump could be installed without the spacers. I don't know if the Melling pumps can be used without the spacers or not, but they were not available at the time.
