Help, when installing header on a c5
do you put lock tight on the bolt treads? reason for asking is because I see yellow looking dried marking on them.
I helping my son install them on his 03 zo6.

I would NOT do that. You don't want to take a chance of trashing the threads in the head when removing them in the future.

that makes since on aluminue heads, I never use lock tight on my 68 pontiac headers or any other old car.

Some new fasteners come with yellow (or red) thread locker on them.
The yellow always reminds me of cured 3M weatherstrip adhesive ("camel snot")...

Would be a very good idea to use anti-sieze. Saves the aluminum threads if you ever need to remove them. I would use locking style header bolts so they don't come loose. Exhaust leaks are bad

I used ARP header studs with ARP moly lube. Torqued to spec and never loosened up - had them on/off a few times already.
Well worth it and no threadlocker needed!

I did not use any thread lock, but I did use anti seize and torqued down per spec.
Good Luck.
