Default C5 z06 rims fit

Got a 2000 coupe, with stock tires and rims. Thinking of switching to the C5, Z06 rims. Any problems with the fit? Is it as simple as putting the current tires on the new rims. I know it's suggested to put Z06 tires on those rims, but the old one's still have some life left, and I will switch tires later. Thanks for the help.

there is no fitment issue that Im aware of and to my knowledge there is no Z06 tires unless your referencing the runflats but those are not required and a lot have swapped to better performance tires

Rim size is no problem, tire size is no problem although you will need to change the rear tire diameter in the PCM. You cannot put your run flats on the Z06 size rim. I put Z06 rims on my '04 Vert two seasons ago and I'm very happy with the results. By the way, I put Firestones on and couldn't be more pleased!!

Can you tell me why putting the run flats on is a problem? And, I was keeping the rims the same size 17 front, 18 rear, do I still need to mess with the PCM

Thanks for your response. I guess I was referring to the Z06 size tires, because of the rims being wider. From what I read, I understand the tires should be changed to the Z06 size to fit better.

The tires will work but won't look right because they will be so stretched to fit the rim. But they should work.

If you don't want the Euro stretched look where the tire is narrower than the wheel, you can buy stock width C5 Z06 repro wheels...

This Vert has stock tires on Z06 wheels note the look especially on the rear wheel

There are no run flats in the Z06 (C5) rim size (width). The overall height of the Z06 sized tire is different by almost half an inch, the rim size is only part of the equation, the sidewall height is the issue.

Z06 - front 265/40-17 25.4" dia.
rear 295/35-18 26.1" dia.
non-Z06 front 245/45-17 25.6" dia.
rear 275/40-18 26.7" dia.

Pretty sure the stock Z06 sized tires were 285 on the rear, not 295's.

If you have runflats with tread and you want to keep them just put them on the Z06 rims, they'll be fine. Fronts (original runflats) are the only manufacturer that can be used on a 9 1/2 inch rim. All other runflat manufacturers for the front 17 inch wheel are limited to a 9 inch wide wheel. The fronts will stand up a little straighter, after awhile you won't notice it. The rear runflats can go up to a 11 inch rim (stock z06 are 10 1/2 inch). Z06 wheels will accept the TPS used in the C-5 coupe, convert. No other changes are needed.

Pretty sure you're wrong.

OE C5 Z06 tires were 265/40/17 front, 295/35/18 rear.

And, as stated above, the C5 runflats will fit and work just fine on Z06 size wheels.

And yes, the Z06 tires are slightly shorter all around, this is not a problem, as the front/rear height ratio remained about the same (and that is what matters). General rule of thumb - keep the rear tires 1/2" (or more) taller than the fronts, and all is good. If you make the rears shorter, than make the fronts shorter too.

Do it right or don't do it at all. (wise words from an elder)

Use the $ from the sale of your current wheel/tire combo to offset the cost on the next.

Toyo T1r is a highly recommended non runflat tire in Zo6 sizes. They look good and perform well. I'm sure they are cheaper than your current rf's.

-Driving with base c5 tires on Zo6 wheels makes us ALL look bad, not just yourself.

I have ZO6 replica wheels all in 18" with 295 35's on the rear and 275 35's on the front and am very happy with the look and performance. IMO the fronts should be 18" also for a more balanced look.
