Heres the deal. My wife agreed to let me race her car because she has an automatic and we run brackets.. What converter would you guys recommend. ?? I might consider 3:42's as well.. The car will be raced at least 12 to 15 times in a season. How big or what converter can I use and still keep the car very driveable for my wife? Any help will be great.. :seeya :seeya
Re: Help with Torque Converter choice (CHRIS NJ C5)
I'm running with a Pro torque 2400 and 3.42's with excellent results! It's completely streetable and plants the power when you need it at the track.Check my video post on this forum "I pulled a holeshot on a funnycar" and you can see what I mean..:yesnod:
P.S. You will need to seriously consider a Transgo shift kit as well..It MAKES the difeerence:D :yesnod:

Has she driven REDGAR's car? :blueangel:
Hey Kurt, thats on my list to do.. Next time I see him I will hijack his ride.. He is running a Pro torque 2900.. I am curious to hear from guys with a 3500 to see how streetable it is..

Don't forget to keep track of that info by gear and STR. More gear will offset some of the sloppiness and a lower STR will make it a little more tame on the street. Don't you have a spare set of 3.73s laying around? :reddevil
Re: Help with Torque Converter choice (CHRIS NJ C5)
Don't bring her here to drive my car without warning. My wife has not driven it yet. If I let your wife drive my car first, I will have to move in with you.
Car is at Vette Drs getting some pcm tweaking and will have it back Saturday when we go for dyno day.
Mikie C has a Yank 3000 that I found easy to drive. He is planning on a 3500 not sure when it is going in though.
Hey Chris,
You are welcome to take mine for a drive any time ($20 a mile :p: :jester), let me know. I just received the new TC which is the Yank ST 3200 with a 2.5 STR. I don't plan on installing it until probably April along with the 3.42's.
My wife was driving my car when she was 9 months pregnant. H/C, 3000 stall converter, with stock rear end. She didn't mind it to much. Atleast she did not complain to me about it. I would say 3200 or below.
If you stay with the 3.15's go with the Yank 3000.If you move up to 3.42's go with the SY3500,very streetable and very good for racing.I just pulled my SY3500 out for my new Pro Yank Extreme 4000.I will post when it's all done to let everyone now how it drives.
Re: Help with Torque Converter choice (CHRIS NJ C5)
I'm running the Yank 3200, 2.1 STR with 3.42's. Very streetable. I hardly even notice the "looseness" any more. I have had some other work done, and it's impossible to put the power to the road, up to about 40 MPH, when I stomp it. You will need some stickier, wider tires. I'm using 285/38/18's on the rear now. Thinking about stepping up to 315's, but I gotta get new rims first. This combination works real good at the track with some MT ET Streets. See sig.

Chris, what are you planning to do about rollbar issues? Aren't tracks in your neck of the woods a little picky about that sort of thing? Does Jenn know you're planning to put in a full cage and turn it into an FRC?
I don't know how much advice you'd take from a "WAXER" :D...but my ProTorque 2800 has been great so far. You feel the looseness a bit...but it's not all that bad. I think Dennis has a 2900P/T. See if you can drive His Car.

I plan on leaving the internals stock.. Maybe adding headers. Should be running low 12's. I will be ordering a hardtop this week.. There is no way she will let me put a cage in the car.. I am lucky enough to get to race it. :p:
