Patriot Heads
Hey all,
First post here and I was hoping you guys could help me out. Admittedly Im not a vette owner but I instead have an 04 tahoe 5.3L with cracked heads. I have been looking for replacement heads that dont break the bank and i came across the patriot website. im not really looking for huge performance gains but if that happens thats fine too. Im really more interested in fit, ease of installation, and longevity
I did a search on the tahoe forums but didnt come up with much. I did a search on this site and saw a few guys that had installed them, so i was wondering if there was a verdit on them yet? thumbs up? thums down?
again hoping all you vette guys can see it in you hearts to help out a fellow chevy guy.

If replacement is all that is required, why not pick up a used set of 5.3 heads, and have them checked out by a good shop...freshen up as required. Certainly the cheapest solution.

I bought a set used a few years ago, and speced a cam to go with them. On the 346 I got 434 HP 409 Tq.
Now I have the same heads and cam on a 418ci. I have not yet dynoed, but I have had this perma-grin on my face since the day I fired it up!
They have been good to me. I have over 20,ooo mi on them.

I disagree. Why not upgrade your heads,(don't forget to raise compression) and cam, too while you're in there. Get headers, and you've got yourself a lot better 5.3. Mileage might even improve a little. For the $$, Patriots should be great for your application.

Or for about $400 you can buy a used set of 243 castings (stock C5Zo6) in the used parts section.
Use a Cometic .040 head gasket (ask a vendor here) to raise compression to 11:1
That's a cheap way to gain more air/squeeze.
