Just purchased a 03 vette with less than 6000 miles. After driving for less than a month started seeing liquid on wheels. The shocks are leaking and was just given a price of over $4000 to replace. Can't seem to find any after market shocks that will allow electronic ride selection to continue to function. Any one solve this in the past??
Go buy yourself some coil overs and chuck the selective ride option.
1/2 the price and a much better ride. Find a guy or shop with a Tech2 to turn off the F45 option RPO code in the BCM.

True, the f55 shock (magnetive select ride) has a shelf life and will fail even if zero miles are driven. There was a big article about them in Corvette Fever magazine. The article said all of them will fail/leak within 10 years. Fact. You're going to be reading about alot more f55 failures on this forum soon.
Either pay up for another set of select ride shocks (several grand) or pick your favorite aftermarket set (Bilstien, Koni, C6Zo6,etc) and buy the simulators from Caspers electronics that will fool your computer into thinking the stock parts are still there (no error codes)
Kiss your select ride switch goodbye.
The F55 setup is king..... Until you have to pay to replace them.

Why buy simulators when you can just remove the RPO option from the BCM, it's a lot cheaper and easier.
I don't know that selective ride is all that, but the cost to repair is ridiculous. The option cost was not where near that, yet they charge ridiculous prices to buy them in if yours fails.
I would get a second opinion. I seriously doubt that all of the shocks failed in under 7k miles, and the quote seems a bit on the high side.
There is no aftermarket replacement that will allow you to maintain selective ride.
I can't imagine all 4 failed at once. They are expensive because the fluid used to fill them is very expensive. I would also check w/Gene Cully to see what he can do on the price.
GM Parts direct has them for < $2k for all 4. Dealer is screwing you on the parts cost.
Either contact Gene Culley www.gmpartshouse.com and get them thru his pricing.. Or delete them and install a regular shock. I personally use the C6 ZO6 shocks. 100% direct bolt in and they flat out work! Gene has them for $250. new for all four!
