1999 passenger headlight problem
I have a 99 with a passenger headlight that works eradically, sometimes goes up and down then stops altogether usually stops open, I manually close it and it will raise and do it again. is it the motor or a relay or something else?? Jim

You'll probably find the plastic gear inside is done and needs to be replaced. There are brass ones available. There are other possibilities too, but look at the gear first.

Thank you so much for the reply; I did however pull the motor on the passanger side light and the plastic gear is ok. Do you have other suggestions? the drivers side works perfect. I really appreciate it. Jim

There are only a couple of components in the headlamp system The headlamp switch itself which has a pretty bad failure rate. Also the headlamp controller itself, mounted on the right forward frame rail and finally, the headlamp motor's themselves. Usually when the controller fails, its a case of the lights being on, but are in the down position and most all other failures other than the gears stripping out, the headlamp switch is the cause.
