P0343 Cam Position Sensor code
cam was swapped 7k miles ago. just started throwing this code.
Sensor? or bolts backing out?
to tighten bolts, i just pop off the timing cover, right?

Unfortunately, no. I'm never a fan of changing parts, but this may be an exception pending investigation. I would pull the intake manifold, and check the cam position/lifter center on lobes to see if things have moved. Also, I would electrically verify everything is good at the connector using the service manual. If the cam does not look like it has moved, and you don't see anything obvious, plus everything checks out good electrically, I would be very tempted to change out the sensor. Again, this is not something I endorse as common practice, but if everything else looks good, and considering the labor required to access the timing gear, it might pan out.
