Why do you think you have to fool with either?

Mine are set as follows:

Fan 1 on at 195, off at 185
Fan 2 on at 206, off at 196

My normal coolant temps while moving hover around 175-180 (depending on ambient temps), and I see a max of about 198 idling in hot weather.

FAN #1 "ON" Temp is - 182*

FAN #1 "OFF" Temp is - 173*

FAN #2 "ON" Temp is - 188*

FAN#2 "OFF" Temp is - 178*

I hope this helps some

If one does not re-set the temperature settings on the Fans then there is "NO" use in getting a lower temp thermostat!

When your fans don't come on till the factory setting 212* then no matter what Thermostst you put in your Vette will creep upto 212* till they come on and then off @ 195*!

This is really to hot for certain areas that people live _ EX: any Desert area, ARIZONA, MOJAVE, PALM SPRINGS, LAS VEGAS, TEXAS etc. and when you want to run your AC it will make the temps go way to high for comfort

So by installing a lower thermostst and re-setting the fans to come "ON" and cool the radiator fluid down your Vette will run cooler and more efficient.

Hope this helps

Thanks,Matt

Don't you think GM tested in HOT temps??? Waste of time and money.

Tested what?
I highly doubt GM tested the supercharged 701rwhp car above.
I know for sure they didn't test my 11.7:1 n/a engine either.

Both may just have slightly different needs in terms of temperature control and detonation resistance compared to the 300rwhp emissions-friendly engine that GM originally built.

But we wouldn't expect you to understand that.

And further, the OP question was very simple and easy to read...." 160 stat/fan on temps?".

If you don't have the answer, don't post in it.
If you want to debate the benefits of such, start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else' VERY simple question.
If you think it's a waste of money, then simply don't buy such products.

Let's see---- Duhhhh Uhhhhm Duhhhhhhh!

What kind of question is this! GM did test - ohh yes they did my friend and they tested the "STOCK" Vette very well

But they did not test my Vette or any other for that fact, that has either Higher Compression nor Nitrous nor Blowers or Twin Turbo's

I the event you have a stock Vette I applaud you and I say continue to enjoy it, but when someone does modify a motor then cooler temps for that high performance set-up is necessary

So if you do not undestand why someone will adjust temps and a thermostat that is fine, but please be careful not to assume it is a waste of money

Thanks,Matt

What do you want to bet the Z06 ans ZR1 don't do this. Bet they have the stock 190 thermostat and stock fan settings. Still think it's a waste.

I agree. Some people are ill informed about lower coolant temps being better for power. Just check out several different race car series and see what temps they run. Way more than 195 degrees.

Terrific...I bet if he asked those race teams what he should set his fan setpoints at, he'd get a clear and concise answer too.

You are correct we are off topic. The original question was answered with the correct answer and I should not have jumped in.

Only 2 responses in this thread had an answer the OP was looking for.

Neither are necessarily right or wrong, they were feedback of of the question asking what to set the fans at.

Mine are somewhat conservative settings, madmatt's are more aggressive, but I'm thinking to pull those setpoints off w/o the fans running constantly, he surely has a more efficient aftermarket radiator too.

The OP already stated he had the Tstat installed, and by asking what to set the fans at, it sounds like he has the capability (tuning software) to adjust them at will too.

Telling him what YOU feel is a waste of money at this point is downright stupid. That's all I'm sayin'

I set mine at:
fan 1 on 185
fan 1 off 180
fan 2 on 187
fan 2 off 180

enable speed 30
disable speed 35
