Default ignition lead wire

i am installing an aftermarket head unit for my bose system using the soundgate gmcrv2 adapter for bose. it says i need to connect the ignition lead wire from the stereo to the brown wire comming out of the ignition switch. I am guessing this wire will have to be cut in order to splice in the ignition lead wire. I'm not too sure which wire it is though. there is a light brown wire that is very thin, and there is also a much larger wire that is dark brown. i dont want to end up cutting wires that dont need to be cut. i would prefer not cutting either of them to be honest. is there another way of doing this? thanks!

here is a pic of the wires comming from the ignition noting the two light and dark brown wires.

The pink one is the ignition wire. The big brown one is the accessory one. The accessory is most likely what you want. You don't have to cut the wire, just strip some of the insulation from around it and wrap then solder an tape the new wire to it.

The other color is tan, not light brown.

Autozone, Walmart also sells a crimp in splice that is easily installed and removed if necessary. I wouldnt cut the wire.

Do you know that there are wires in the passengers foot well that are made for this very purpose:

- HOT 12 VDC all times,

- HOT in Ignition ON amd ACC

- Ground

There specifically for this type of purpose. There fused at 20 amps.

Is there a fuse in the passenger footwell area i can use? I'm installing my head unit very soon and i don't feel comfortable tapping into that brown wire by the ignition switch!

Thanks!
