I was 1 mile away from my home and the RPM’s started to jump around and I noticed the reduced power, and was luckily able to get the car home. It died in my driveway, and I had to push it into the garage and then take my other car to a surprise birthday party. When I got home, I did not hear the fuel pump prime and the fuel gauge was reading a little less than a ½ tank. This is the second time of no fuel in the driver side tank failure, and the 1st failure, the gauge was @ ¼ tank. Both times NO CODES were present on the DIC when I ran out of gas. Although I have seen the P1431 Fuel Level Sensor 2 Circuit Performance in the history when the gauge drops to empty; this has happened twice this month. I have used Techron in the past when the fuel gauge drops to zero while driving.
I bought 2 gallons of gas and put it in and could hear the gas hitting the bottom of the driver side tank like it was empty. I then primed the fuel pump 3 times and she started right up and idled like normal and took it for a test drive with no issues. The gauge still displayed a little less than ½ tank.
Question #1
Is this a fuel transfer problem from the passenger side tank to the driver side tank?
Question#2
Should I focus on the passenger side tank, using Sea Foam 1st, if still fails, drain & clean the siphon jet pumps?

Reason: Paging Bill Curlee
I was reading another post last week about a similar problem. I think it was Bill C that pointed out a jet that gets clogged on the transfer "pump" causing this.
Here is the link to the other problem with fuel where the jet pump is shown. His problem turned out to be the ignition switch, but the thread is worth a look.
Thanks for the information.. I appreciate it. I will start with the ignition switch since i won't have to get gasoline over my arms to drain the tank. And its a free fix to clean and I am interested to see if the contacts are burned.
Attn: Need help from Bill Curlee:
I followed your procedure to the letter and I did find burnt contacts exactly the same as FASTVETZ06 (Mark) the guy who sent you his old ignition switch. I cleaned all of my contacts with 2000 grit sandpaper, and wiped all contacts down with alcohol ad bent the tabs to get better contact. I reassembled and the car still would not start; but I could hear the fuel pump prime. I ended up putting 1/4 gallon of fuel in the tank just to get it started and it idled for 10 minutes, and then drove 2 miles where it ran out of gas again. The gas gauge showed 1/4 full/empty. What should be my next step in troubleshooting this? If there truly is gas in the RH tank and not siphoning to the LH tank, do I inspect or replace the siphoning jet pump?

I had this problem. You are going to have to get invasive. Check the jet pump in the passenger fuel tank. Most likely it is clogged causing transfer issues. PM me and I'll share some interesting pictures from my ordeal with this issue.
