Default Tuner Shootout Update

Well, I have to apologize for giving everyone misinformation. I was under the impression that as a suite holder at HRP I could rent the track for around 500.00 for the day. That is true, except that the price is for me to run my car only, no racing, only tuning and only for me, maybe one or two other cars.

Having just hung up with the track, the deal for a private club outing like myself and K&B (oracleguru) were discussing, is much different. Because of the racing and the number of cars, the track has to secure additional insurance and the price is around 2,000 for the day. That includes the ambulance for five hours. And this is a Sunday price. They would be glad to have us as long as they have an open date that suits our schedule. HRP has offered us any Sunday that is designated as Instant Green on their schedule. They would give us the track all day until 4:00pm when they open the track to the public for street racing night. We would be welcome to stay for no charge if we wanted to.

One idea would be to get together Saturday night somewhere for burgers and beer and then meet sunday am at the track. We could have a Calcutta that night and get some pots going. Most of you know how a Calcutta works, but basically, you bid on each car and or team. Even your own. The $'s generated from the bidding go into a pot and are paid out to the winners. We can work out tiers for 1st, second and third later. We can pick a Fox and Hound or the like for the burgers, beer and Calcutta.

In order to determine if there is enough interest to do any more leg work, I am going to put together a couple of dates and ask that anyone that would be interested please indicate by a post to that affect.

Assuming that the tuners would be willing to fund half of the cost of the track and assuming that there would be at least 20 cars willing to come, the cost per person would be around 50.00. You can double that if the tuners are not willing to pick up half of the track expense. I would be willing to go for 50.00 and maybe 75, but 100 would be a little much.

I know that LG, Speed Demon, and K&B Motorsports, House of Speed, have all expressed interest. I haven't heard from anyone at MTI though.

If you would be interested in this type of thing and could find your way to HRP, please post your response. IF you would be interested if it were in Ennis, please post that. If you would go either place, post that. I won't go any further until we get some idea of how many people are interested.

Dates available:
3/17, 4/21, 4/28, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26

Regards
Randy Goss
