Default Swaybar Help

OK, so the C6 Z51 swaybar kits are a no go from GM Part House and I have emailed Gene and they are not getting any. I have found a C6 Z06 swaybar kit. What will be the affect if I get these and try to install on my 2003 C5?

Do you know if the Z06 bars will bolt up with no modifications like the Z51?

With regard to mounting, dimensionally, they are the same....only the diameter is different.

Looks like I will be ordering the Z06 bars. Found a place that has a kit put together. Thanks.

No personal experience here, but from what I've read The C6 Z06 bars and C5 stock size tires will not perform as well as the C6 Z51 bars and stock size tires.

I'm not positive, but I think Aaron Pfadt made a statement in a thread on this forum (try doing a search) stating that with stock C5 size rear tires the C6Z51 rear sway bars were better fitted for the car, that unless you put larger size (Z06 size) tires on the car when driven hard into a turn with C6Z06 rear sway bars an oversteer situation could develop.

I see. I could see the measurable difference during an auto-x event, but I doubt the average driver will notice on the street.

True if you'll notice he said when driven hard into a turn (as in auto cross). It's doubtful that you would notice any difference on the street.

Why can't you get the c6z51's? I got them from Gene about a year ago...maybe longer.

Aaron's argument was that on a regular C5 the larger bars would intruduce understeer and that the c6z51's were a perfect match.

And speaking from experience...they are!

I installed a set of C6 Z06 bars on the wife's base-suspensioned, run-flatted '02 A4 and they work perfectly - rain or shine. How's that?

It's a personal thing. The story is that they will be more prone to over steer, as in the rear will slide. Look at the tire ratio difference on a C6Z06 compared to a base C5 and it'll make more sense. A C6Z06 has some really big rear tires.

I know I wouldn't want them because I have 19" CCW's with PS2's and C5Z bars and it tends to slide in the rear a bit. I wouldn't want to do anything to make it any worse. It will slide the front too every once in a while so it's close to being balanced though.

If you go to his website, he has over 100 sets on back order and he is not taking any more orders. I think all the C5 follks have used up all the overstock they had.
