Sure you put the switch in right? No pinched wires?
Ignition can only go in one way. When the last ignition gave out, it also gave me the security light. So it was something that frazzled when the last one went.
That little chip in your key ranges from #1-15. I know my car is a 14. The new ignition and key I'm not sure about. But he's saying it's not the same number, which is causing the codes. But my security light was on with the last ignition, the final crank I got out of it before it seized. Maybe had it been replaced with an ignition / key of the same number the codes would clear.
Either way, I'm not spending another $100+ just to get rid of a light. It's just another one to pop up on the dash.
Did you just replace the ignition switch or the whole thing? I'm worried because I just ordered a new switch for mine and I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me when I change it.

I replaced the entire cylinder on my car......uses a completely different key now

That's your problem then, the key resistance is not the same one as what the computer remembers. I don't think the relearn will fix this, I think you need a trip to the dealer for some special time with the TechII.
If the BCM doesn't recognize the chip's resistance and it doesn't match what is in memory, the security light should be flashing and the car should not start up. If it is starting under these conditions, then something's been re-wired at the TDR relay. Pull your codes first and report what you find.
