I bought a set of OBX headers and need to get some o2 sensor extentions. I've heard there are two different kinds (square/round) and am not sure which one to get for my 98 coupe.

Also, where is a good place to order these from online?

call mti racing in georgia....use your rear o2 sensors and get an adapter for a flat plug to square plug

 

I'll be blocking off the rear's and the front ones are the set that i need the extenions for. Does that still require a flat plug to square plug adapter?

no you just needf a flat to flat ext... most people use the rear o2s when they delete the rears. the theory behind this is that the rears have higher wattage heaters in them....not true, the holes themselves are designed better to keep them from throwing the infamous codes p1133 and p1153.

with that said do a little research before you buy either the extensions or the flat to square adapter. if you use the rear o2s (recommended) you will need the adapter plug

 

I was told to use some block off plugs on the back and take it to a tuner to have them block the infamous codes. If there is a better way than that i'm all for it

So you say i should block the fronts and then use the existing back ones? Do the rear sensors change position much from stock? What is the adapter for if i am using the stock sensors in the stock position? Sorry for the 20 questions, i just want to make absolutely sure i'm on the right track before purchasing parts.

I just installed OBX LT's on my 98' Vert, here is what I did:

1. Plug the rear o2 sensor holes in the pipes with the (supplied) plugs.
2. Order (2) front/rear adapter plugs from LG Motorsports
--Give them a call at 972.429.1963, the adapters are not on thier site.
3. Install your rear o2 sensors into the front sensor locations (in header collector)
4. Use the adapters to connect your installed sensors (square plug) to the front harness (oval plug)
5. Have your tuner tune out your rear o2's.

CAUTION: Make sure not to cross the wires from left sensor to right plug. The left sensor must plug into the left harness and right into right.

Have fun getting your o2 sensors into the headers, the OBX design points them right into the tunnel plate. If possible, mock the headers up, mark the area where the o2's will hit the tunnel plate then remove that area of the plate ( cut it out).

i used a hole saw in my tunnel plate..only on the driverside sensor...

 

awesome! I was going to just buy some extensions for the factory front sensors but I suppose Ill call LG and use the factory rear sensors. thanks guys....

 

I used the fronts on the front of mine and they work fine.

I installed the same headers on my ride. Make sure you take the tunnel plate off to cut the hole. It's a lot easier. I wasted about an hr trying to do it on the car. Also the theads in the slots for the 02 sensors suck! They hardly ever go in smooth. It will take some work.

When are you installing those Dustin?

 

I didnt even have to cut my tunnel plate. it was close but I think it will be fine

 

How short do the fonts end up? On my install (different Headers though) I unclipped the connectors from the frame and that gave me enough slack to use the stock wiring...

 

I have OBX longtube headers and I just ordered my O2 sensor extensions (flat to square connectors) from LG motorsports yesterday. Super people to work with. very easy transaction.

 

I'm not sure. I had to take the car to a stealership yesterday due to a B2723 code and it not starting because its not recogjnizing my keys...

I'm hoping to get these on before thanksgiving...but at this rate i'm not sure.

 

I just got my OBX headers installed also. We used the front O2 sensors in the front with O2 extensions (flat connector for fronts, square for rear) and plugged the rear ones. Got the extensions from Speed Inc, great service there. Only problem was the check engine light, no error codes on the DIC. Now the computer is at ECS for tuning and I can't wait for it to return. The friend who installed the headers does a lot of these and even custom builds headers and was pretty much impressed with these, especially for the price.
