z51 brakes will need brackets, and i believe the c6 (non z06) is same as c5 - so would be changing parts out for nothing.

The stock C5 size rotor is 12.75 x 1.25, the C6 base is the same. The C6 Z51 is 13.37 x 1.25 and will bolt right up with a different bracket. The C6 base and Z51 calipers are a slight redesign from the C5, they are stiffer and hold up better on the race track.

The C6 Z06 of course is a whole different animal.

For most uses you would gain nothing with going to C6 non-Z06 calipers and rotors.

Many ppl put the C6 caliper on the C5. The C6 caliper is a little stronger in the construction.

The C6Z51 is just a slightly larger rotor which needs a different caliper bracket, but the same caliper

Do the c6z just bolt right up with a different bracket and 18" wheel to clear?

No. Need the C6Z calipers, mounting brackets and rotors.

18" wheels with the proper Off set, so not just any 18" wheel will work

So for the C5 you can get the stronger C6 caliper without even changing brackets, it will bolt right up? Only the Z51 needs a bracket? Sounds like a good deal.

When do you know for sure when calipers need replacing from spread--is it just a pad taper thing?

Fronts calipers more robust only, correct? The rears are the same?
