I had a friend put on my B&M shifter for me. Long story short the bolts came out while I ws driving. The shifter came off and the pivot cup on the bottom of the shifter popped off and must have fallen on the road. I just spent the last few hours trying to locate one at a dealer to no avail. DO aftermarket ones exist? What can I do?
The billet based B&M shifter requires 1/4" longer bolts (torqued to spec) than the stamped steel oem shifter. That's probably why they came loose and the shifter fell off...
No oem or after market replacement part is available. Maybe from a salvage yard.
From what I understand, MGW shifters don't use them because they were designed to eliminate them. You might find someone who has installed an MGW shifter who no longer needs the plastic bushing.

You have to buy the whole shifter assembly from GM.
Are you sure the bushing is not still in the tunnel somewhere?
Unless the shifter came completely out of the base, I am surprised that the bushing could get out of the lower housing. I am also surprised you could not tell the shifter was getting loose before it came completely off.

It actually gets even more bizzare. I was not even shifting hard when it happened. I shift pretty hard often too. I was just moving between 2-3 and the whole stick came off in my hand. I am sure it fell down the side.
And yes the person that installed it did not use long enough screws you are correct. Buying the whole GM assembly costs more than the MGW shifer. Lucky me huh?

Yep. Remove the shifter and the base from the torque tube if necessary. Get an inspection mirror, preferably one that extends and has a pivot head and a flashlight and look for it. The tunnel plate is nice and flat and there is an open space only at the very front and the very back. The rear opening is approx 1 foot or more from where the shifter is.
Go look for it and remember, it's plastic so a magnetic retriever won't "grab" it.

Gum on a stick. Flexible mechanical fingers. Air and blow it out the back. Or send me $19.95 and I'll pop the one off the stock factory C5 shifter I have laying around some place. Or maybe I'm just full of crap on the $19.95 and would settle for whatevers fair including shipping.

I was going to post that. Blow compressed air down around the torque tube at all different angles and see if it falls out onto the ground.
I was also going to post that I installed a MGW so mine is just lying around here too open to offers. Lots of people here have them lying around.

Hmm I answered the PM and posted in this thread earlier today. In any event shoot me your address via PM and I'll get it out to you for the cost of shipping. The crack about $19.95 was just pulling your leg.
Keep your eye on your mail box in a couple days.
