Just picked up a low mi 2004 convertible. After I got it home yesterday after approx 1 hour drive, I noticed the passenger window could not be lowered, with either the driver or passenger switch. I did some searches and assumed a fuse was the likely cause.
I was planning on troubleshooting today, but now it works fine. I couldn't see any passenger window lock settings that might have been the issue.
Is an intermittent contact the most likely cause?
Also a real newbie question - I have not worked with the types of fuses in the car - when I opened the fuse box yesterday, the fuses seemed pretty tightly seated - obviously a good thing. Is pulling with pliers the normal way to get them out?
pull the rubber accordion wire channel back in the door jamb and look for frayed/bare wire where it rubs the hole in the door. tape it and cross your fingers!
pull the wires out a little and check all around the wires in the area. maybe not the problem but sure appears to be related to a lot of window intermittent problems along with other electrical issues. sorry if this is not the case.
Same thing on the '99 I just bought. I took the door panel off, and removed the bose speaker...the window motor was extremely HOT. I tapped it with the back of a my screwdriver, and now it works...guess the motor has a spot where the brushes stick. Eventually I'll have to replace...but it's working for now.

I think that since the window does not have any limit switches, the motor and drive gears get in a bind because they are just driven up against a stop until the motor stalls.
I have been bumping my glass down about 1/16" to unload the drive gears, and my windows have not stuck since then.
Mine is stuck in the down and maybe goes up 1/10th of the way or so before it locks up. It'll roll back down to bottom out, then go back up to 1/10th or so - no more. It has gotten on occasion where it will go up less and less as you mess with it. I'd rather be stuck in full up, than down as I have it now. Too cold and rainy outside now to drive with in down position.
