Default Can you run without radiator sheild?

Ok, I did some work on my car this weekend that required me to remove the baffle (sheild) the fits on the radiator. This is the part that angles the air from under the car into the radiator. I can see how this wold direct all the air from under the front of the car through the radiator - but is it really required. I was trying to get more air to the blackwing I have installed. Will removing this cause the engine to run hotter? Have any of you guys removed this and kept it off - or should I put it back on?

I Have ran my 02Z without it with OAT @ 110F. At speed it is fine, but at low speeds or stopped it ran noticibly hotter. I also have a Ron Davis radiator in it though so take it for what it is worth.

Well it looks like I will be putting it back on. Like some of you have mentioned, I did notice a slight increase in operating temperature during normal driving - and it was cool out! So not wanting to take any chances - its going back on. Thanks for everyones input.
