Oil Pressure observations

I just returned from a trip back east and while driving in the flatter parts of Ok, Tx, Nm, and Az I noticed something I am at a a loss to explain/understand. Since the roads were pretty flat and reasonably straight I would set the cruise at about 83 and with nothing to do but steer around the vehicles you come up on I had plenty of time to play with the gages. I noticed a strange fluctuation pattern of the digital oil pressure readings. High would be 44 lbs but then the pressure would drop to 43, then 42, then 41 then 40 and then suddenly go back to 44. The cycle took about 50 minutes to repeat and did so for hours at a time. Anyone got any ideas other than just another crappy piece of GM equipment????
That's pretty good by most any standard. The difference you are seeing could be cause by a number of things. My guess would be voltage or oil temp. Were you using A/C?

I think you missed the point. Drop incrementally in 1 lb increments then jump up four and repeat. Not a sequence that makes a lot of sense. Yes I had the AC on at times and I also ran with the windows open at times (when it wasn't raining). Didn't make any difference as far as I could tell.
