I have a '98 6spd. The "Pull key-wait 10 sec" message and "Service Column Lock" message are being displayed. Fuel pump shuts down if I try to drive it. The steering column does NOT lock when key is out. *Both recalls have been done. Last one done Jan. '09.* I have tested battery and is fully charged. I went in and pulled #25 fuse and waited 10 mins. and reinstalled. Same thing. Do I need a Column Lock Bypass or something else? Many many thanks in advance.
YES. A CLB may correct your problems. I say MAY because some of the early cars (1997 - 2000) do not respond to a CLB. No way to know in advance if it will work on yours or not. It does work on most but NOT all early cars. Order one and try it. Once it is installed you need to clear all errors/DTC's eithere manually or by disconnecting the Neg battery cable for at least 10 minutes. If the errors return then you have one of those cars that does not work with a CLB. If they are gone then you will have no further problems with either the fuel shutoff or the error messages.
If the errors return and the fuel shutoff is still there then you need to find a tuner with either HP Tuners or EFI Live tuning software and have the fuel shutoff speed in the PCM reprogrammed to a high number like 255mph. You will still get the errors ( clear then every time you start the car or learn to live with them showing) but the car is driveable up to the fuel shutoff speed that was set.
Thanks much for ur response. I ordered one from corvettes of houston.
Received the CLB from corvettes of houston today. I removed the GM K-harness that had been installed by dealer and then installed the CLB. This took about 30 mins. This fixed the problem.
99 6-speed. Has had recall done. Got the service column lock message. Checked everything possible before ordering CLB from Corvettes of Houston. Installed yesterday afternoon and all is well on that problem. Having a friend take care of the fuel shutoff limit, to finish it off.
Still having idle problems(drops to 500 to 600) with voltage drops at the same time. I will neva give up!!! Will keep searching!
Also have a Driver Info Display on the way too. It would scroll through the Options.... without me touching the button.....for about a year.Slowly got worse until they totally went out. We will see.
