Column lock issue 02 z06- i read all stickys/threads
The next day..i started the car..it was locked again. no amount of shaking wheel will unlock it. I tryed prussure to the right and then key on, no go.
I bought a CLB, tryed to install..wheel still locked.. i used lighter attachement to force unlock..wheel still locked.
I pulled fuses 25/29..retryd all options..wheel still locked?
any ideas? I;m in north phx..2002 z06
Will clb work on 02 z06?
thx

First, you want to make sure that the battery has plenty of juice... Even if it's locked, start the car and run the motor parked for a few minutes.
Turn the car off. Wait a sec. Then turn the car to the ON position, but don't start it.
Listen to see if the lock disengaged. (You may want to turn off your radio.)
If it didn't disengage, turn the car off and do it again. Remember, don't start your car.
Now it SHOULD disengage after a few tries. The trick is that when you're starting your car, it's pulling a lot of cranking amps from the battery which are really needed to disengage the lock. So by not starting the car until AFTER the lock is disengaged, the lock has enough power to do it's job.
The CLB that comes with the cigarette lighter accessory is good, but the cigarette lighter accessory itself is garbage and blows fuses. It also didn't work at all for me to disengage the lock. What I did was once I had the knee cover off and the column lock harness exposed, I put my key in and turn it to the ON position, waited about 3 seconds, and then unplugged the lock from the harness. Then I plugged in the CLB and pulled the key out.
This worked for me although the instructions say you shouldn't do this install with the key in the ignition. Either way, I had no issues and tricking the car seemed to be the only way to disengage the lock.
Good luck.
