Is it possible to get a new ring and pinion gear change without changing the complete carrier. DTE want $1800 for a new ring and pinion and reman carrier. Have a 2.73 and want to have a 3.15, but don't have $1800 for DTE.
Look in the C5 parts for sale section and pick up a complete diff for around $600.00
I only have 33,000 on mine, when I buy a complete used dif, I don't know what I will be getting. Is it possible or does anyone know where I can get a new ring and pinion and installed without having to buy the whole thing
I think mine is in good shape !
But I will look in the "parts for sale" section.

Sorry, but unless you really know what you're doing (and even then), you're out of luck.
Problem is you have a 2 series carrier, and a 3 series gearset won't fit in there properly. You'll need a thicker gearset for it to work. For F-bodies, they have spacers that are made for just such a conversion (or thick gears), but I've never seen them for C5's. Even sites that are dedicated to gear and pinions don't list a thick gearset for the C5.
I have seen that DTE has built 2 series cases with 3.15's and up. You'd have to contact them to see if it's worth it. $1800 sounds really high, are you sure you weren't comparing to a stage x built diff?
It's much easier to get a fully completed pumpkin from a 6 speed car (3.42) and be done with it, even if it is used.
Definitely much easier to swap the whole pumpkin. You have to know what you are doing and have the right tools to swap out the gears. We have a guy that builds ours for us in with different gears and then just swap the pumpkin depending on what track we are running at.
