Problem with A/C

Hi there,
I bought a 1998 C5 from my friend.
Based on previous owner(My friend) the air condition was working perfect (Freezing)!!. When I purchased the car it was parked for three to four months.
But now it's blowing hot air! from both driver and passenger side.
I took it to a local mechanic to check the gas but it was full and no leaking!
He told me that I have to change the compressor and .... ( $800).
Can you help ? any idea?

you might want to check the A/C control unit. This the digtal display that shows the temp and blower speed. Sometimes when this control unit does not work well it does what your air condition is doing. hope this helps out.
