Default red line = leaky butt?

I switched to full synthetics back in May. I just recently discovered a few drops of oil on the floor, beneath the rear end.

Coincidence or does the new fluid cause a leaky butt?

A leaking differential cover on the C5 is pretty common - I believe there is a GM TSB on this problem. Switching to Redline fluid and seeing these drops are a coincidence. I use the same fluid in my differential and engine - no problems just great performance.

Changed fluid to Redline synthetic in my diff. over 5 years ago.

Seals never leaked before, or after the change to Redline.

Could be coming from the vent located on the top of the differential, especially if overfilled. You should be so lucky – hopefully you are.

The seals on these differentials leak at any time no matter the age or mileage.

So it wasnt diff fluid after all. The guy who installed my stainless steel brake line didnt tighten the rear right line. The fluid would leak onto the leaf spring, travel down toward the center of the car, then drip. It would strip some of the dirt off of the leaf spring, giving it a weird color, that led me to believe that it was diff fluid.

Who'da thunk it?
