Default Very loud Squeaking............................... ......................

For the past month my car has been squeaking like crazy! usually the noise dies down a bit after the car is warm but gets loud again when its back to being cold. I took it in to an auto parts store and they told me it was a pulley on the tensioner, i changed it and it still squeaks. Also sometimes when it is squeaking and I hit a bump or a dip it will stop squeaking for a moment....any thoughts on what it can be?? I would really like to find out. thanks

Can you be more specific about where the squeak is coming from? If you take the belt off, does the squeak go away?

The squeak is coming from the engine, just not sure where. Sometimes the squeaking can last all day even though it is not as loud.

I see this problem with my Vette!

I mean, they are fiber glass...NOT saying all Vettes make noises but most do. That being said, I would check the sway bar end links.

Mine are being replaced for the same reason, they squeak when they are cold then the squeaks go away after it warms up!

I hope that helps.

Just went through a year of trying to get rid of the same thing on my car. Like you I started with changing the idler pulley, changed belts a couple times but ended up ditching the stock harmonic balancer (crank pulley) for an underdrive pulley to fix it. Take a look at yours with the car running and check to see how bad it wobbles.

Makes sense to me since mine did the same thing. On a warm day or after the car warms up the parts loosen up enough that the belts pull it back into place enought to get rid of the squeaking. When it was cold however it made a hell of a racket.

UD pulley plus install should run you around $400.

What about the A/C belt tensioner pulleys?
There's 2 of them,and they're a biotch to get to...
