Re: Need help changing front pads/removing rotors... (CORVETTE FOREVER)
Jack up car, remove wheels, remove 2 bolts that hold on calipers and pull pads off Calipers. Pull Rotors off car and replace if you have new ones. reinstall calipers with new pads on new rotors. If new pads are too thick and dont slide over new rotor try using pad spreader. If that does not work loosen the brake line into the caliper and let some brake Fluid leak out and then spread pads. reinstall and Torque parts back on to specs. Reverse first steps and then bleed entire system with new fluid... then...you are done. I have all this down to about 2 hours and my brake system loves me for it... :)

And the bolts that hold the bracket on will take about 125 lb ft of torque to move them! That's the toughest part of the job. The factory uses Loctite red during assembly. :seeya
Re: Need help changing front pads/removing rotors... (JQUEST)
I asked the same question at my Chevy dealear and the mechanics said they are using Loctite Blue (medium stuff) on the caliper bracket, Reinstall and torque to 125 ft lbs.
Re: Need help changing front pads/removing rotors... (JQUEST)
Do you need to use Loctite when you replace the caliper bolts? And are you suppose to use new bolts?
The shop manual says to use NEW caliper bracket bolts, but this is because new bolts come with loctite already on them. You CAN use the old bolts but you MUST clean the old bolt's threads completely and then apply new loctite. Loctite blue is good. Red is a bit of overkill.
