Default Low RPM grind - Every Gear

So I just purchased a 2001 Corvette Z06 from Carmax. (Includes the 60K mile warranty) I have read a little about the "marbles in a can" sound at low RPMs, (which everyone says is normal), and the grinding during shifts (which is not good). For me, my shifts are beautiful with no grind, but while accelarating at low RPMs, I hear a pretty distinct grinding sound. As soon as I hit 3K-4K RPMs it goes away. This definately isn't the marbles in a can sound, and the grind is not occuring during shifts. What could this be?

Is it physically locking you out of gear or kicking out of gear? Usually you can feel through the shifter if the synchros are bad as well as hear the grinding noise.

If it's just making a funny noise but shifting fine I don't know if I'd worry about it.

If you have TRUE synchro clashing,,,the synchros are most likley worn.

However,,,I have found that If the tranny fluid is contaninated and worn changing the tranny ATF, normaly resolves that issue. Up-grading to a synthetic ATF really smooths out the shifting!!

The bad part is,,,you dont know how long that this issue has been going on and how worn the synchros are. If you have a warranty,,,,see if they will rebuild the tranny. If not, change that ATF to some AMSOIL Sunthetic ATF!

Well, I am taking it in to be looked at on Monday. Good news is, its still completely covered under warranty. I'm rooting for a completely new transmission for free!
