Default Brake Booster Help Needed

My search came up empty when looking for someone with a simular issue. So here it is...

A year ago removed a FAST intake and re-installed my stock LS1 intake. The LS1 Intake has a broken air tube in the rear where the brake booster hose attaches. So I ran the car without the brake booster hose hooked up.

I just installed an LS6 intake and re-attached the brake booster hose. The brakes are still stiff as if I had never hooked up the brake booster hose.

The car has been sitting for the last year and the brake booster worked fine when I took the FAST off. Any ideas to why I don't have vaccum? Is there something I need to do to create the vaccum again? Did I do something to the brake lines by running it without the brake booster hooked up?

Thanks in advance

Too bad I didn't have a more original problem like Column Lock, Oil Pressure failure or my seat rocking. Oh well...anyone? Ideas?

Where do you live? Where I live, if you leave a car sitting unused for a while, with a hose hanging loose, you better be prepared to remove that hose and clean it out.

On the contrary, I think your situation is very original. I've never known anyone who purposely ran with a broken fitting on the primary vaccumm source for the vehicle, and just left the brake booster hose dangling....hoping that all would be well when they got around to connecting it properly.

Very original.....IMHO.....

I was being sarcastic and admitting that this doesn't commonly happen. The car was only driven a few times as it was in storage for the past year. I didn't think the "use it or lose it" philosophy applied to brake boosters. lol

The reason for the car not getting fixed last year is due to me being in a different state taking care of my mother who was going through kemo (sort of a higher priority). So thanks for the depiction of an idiot in your interpretation of my situation. Also thank you for the useful post. I'll just go to the garage now and sit in the corner with a dunce cap on and hope that fixes my vacuum issue.

If anyone has any suggestions short of replacing the booster, I'd be appreciative.

Did you take the hose off and check it?

My guess is that you have a bunch of moisture that caused some rust and it's stuck now.

Try spraying a little CRC and then try it again.

I will try that along with double checking that the hose is clear. Thanks for the advice!
