ok, had some nimrod install a ipod kit (instead of doing it myself). He ran the cable into the console, wedged between the lighter and surrounding fiting. I'm getting one channel dropped on my ipod, and suspect a possible cause is that cable is really pinched. I'm hoping it's not ruined.
anyway, how do you get that lighter out? I've got everything around it out, the traction control cover, etc. but is there a clip I'm not seeing? I can't seem to just push it through, and didn't expect to.
any pics? any advice?
The notch at the top is how it is removed. The hole in the bottom, I drilled for the cord. Just rotate the lighter assembly to align the tab in the notch, push it threw and rotate 180 degree around to the second tab and it will come out. Mark
Great, pics are always helpful! Your set up looks like mine, but I suspect the idots didn't drill the slot for the cord. I'm planning on doing the same, and hoping that if I can relieve the pressure, the cord isn't ruined. Since I didn't put the ipod deal in, I'm not sure how it is hooked up. Worse case, I would hope I could just buy another cable, and it would plug into the "box", wherever that is. Basically assuming/hoping that the cable is not hard wired into the box.
