Electro Chromatic Mirror Dimming Question - noticeable difference ???
OK boys and girls. The electro chromatic mirror on my 2001 coupe doesn't seem to be functioning. Is the dimming effect really noticeable ? I do not seem to be getting any visably different effects with a following car at night, or dusk. Any comments would be appreciated. I am going in to my local dealer next month for some other warranty work and if it's not working, I will get it replaced. Thanks ! :D

You should be able to tell. When the mirror dims, it has a greenish tint to it. A couple of things to be aware of. First, the dimming and brightening are slow, so you might not notice the transition. It takes about 10-15 seconds to go from fully bright to fully dim.
Second, one of the switches on the mirror enables or disables the auto dim feature. You need to make sure it is turned on.
Third, if there really is a problem, notice if the driver side mirror dims. Both the rearview mirror and the driver side external mirror should be dimming.
