Default Brakes/Bearing replacement

I have a 2000 C5. Im replacing all 4 wheel bearings and a complete brake job. I have 108,000 miles. There seems to be a huge assortment of replacement parts for each. Can anyone give me their advice on what bearings to use as a replacement and what rotors/caliper/pads to use? Im interested in quality but the price differences are unreal. I just want to make sure when I buy these Im getting what I expect.

Thanks

CJ

I also have a 2000 C5, I put a set of used BAER high performance breaks on after my stock rotors started to dissolve in May 08’.

http://www.baer.com/index.php

I have been totally happy with them so far, you think your are in a F1 car when you drive it and the giant cross drilled rotors look cool to.

I need to start shopping around for wheel bearings and how to swap them out, if anyone knows of a link let us know

Unless you track the car regularly, get a set of wheel hubs from napa or local auto parts. There are better, but on a street car there really isn't any need to spend that kind of money. Brakes.....I've always used stock rotors, pads...street I use Z06 pads(I don't care about dust). If you want great wheel hubs, contact Pfadt, they sell the SKF units very, very nice units.

Dba rotors and Carbotech brake pads.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Napa rotors and Napa for the bearings. Timken is the bearing/hub you want, the SKF hubs are nice for the track but not great for the street. The stock rotors are good for even aggressive track driving, they are very good. There are some reasons to switch to a different rotor and/or caliper but for the street, performance is not one of them. Looks though are a decent reason for different rotors, the drilled ones look good.

I'd inspect and think about replacing the tie rod ends and ball joints as well. On my 2000 with similar mileage the ball joints were pretty loose.
