Tonneau cover switch didnt work
I think I might have found a fix for a problem. I tried to release my trunk lid when the tonneau cover was open. All I got was some nice chimes. I know this is normal. But when I went to release the tonneau cover again the switch didnt work. The relay and fuse were both fine, but after replacing them the swith release worked again. I had them out for at least 10 mins. I am wondering if trying to open both lids at the same time scrambled the BCMs brain, and removing the fuse allowed it to reset. The tonneau switch was fine till the chimes, didnt work immediately after despite repeated attempts, the only thing I did was remove the fuse and relay. Is this another case of having to reset our friendly BCM?

The BCM is programed this way, to avoid your tonneau cover from hitting your trunk lid, you can't open one when the other is already open.
There are other "safety"" items programmed into your BCM, a few are:
-with a manual trans car, reverse is locked out when you are going over 5 mph forward
-your fog lights can only come on when your parking lights are on and your high headlights are off
-your trunk lid or hatch can only open when you are stopped.

Hmmm, I DID read the post, but I am not sure I understand his problem?
Is it that the switch would not work normally AFTER he tried to open both? SO, his solution to this "problem" is to remove the fuse for 10 minutes?
Could I suggest not trying to open both at the same time IF YOU KNOW you should not do this!

It only happened because I did not realise my tonneau lid was not properly latched. What I am wondering is if the BCM was reset by removing the fuse from this curcuit, so allowing the latch switch to work again.
