Default Oil Pressure sensor questions

yes i've used search.

But from all the ones im reading through i think this is a bit different.
I know there quite a few problems where people get 0 or 130 PSI from the sending unit needing replaced.

Im looking for the possibility or experience that people have some that are mis calibrated so to speak.

I have had what i consider low oil pressure 26 hot at idle .. aruound 36 with higher RPMs. Ive seen a ton of cars that seem to have 10-15 more across the board

With a ported texas speed LS6 oil pump. i expect to see a substantial increase .... Instead im seeing around 40 -56 or so when hot.

Was told by quite a few folks that i could see up to around 80 with the new pump....

Anyone have some hard figures to can compare too ... i think im talking with to many bench techs

Your pressures seem fine. A C5 only needs 8 psi of oil pressure at idle, although I would be nervous if mine were that low (8 psi).

The stock bypass in the block is set for 72 psi.

The LS1 does not carry as much pressure as old V8's (LT1) were the rule was 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm.

Most garages have a mechanical oil pressure gauge that screws in between the oil filter and the block, or you can buy this, if you really want to check calibration. BUT, I'm betting it is okay.

My stock 1998 C5 runs about 25-35 psi at idle and 45-50 psi at rpms.

The first, and easiest thing to do, is verify your oil pressure indication with a mechanical gauge. Go from there.

Yah was gonna stop off tommorow and grab a gauge just to see ... i'm not worried about the pressure itself more of a precautionary measure just in case ...
