Default Clutch fluid question !

If I empty the resevoire and add fresh fluid, is it ok to use prestone dot3 or should I get gm dot 3?

I would go with Prestone Dot4 Synthetic. Much better and a popular choice among forum members.

I have used Valvoline DOT 3 & DOT 4 fluid for the past 5 years.

I change the fluid in both the brake and clutch reservoir at least once a month.

I use Prestone DOT4. So does Ranger, so it must be a good thing.

In fall 2007 GM revised the specification for all Corvette's with hydraulic clutches to DOT4 fluid, instead of DOT3. That includes all C6s, C5s and C4s.

Suggest start using DOT4. There are many good brands. Prestone DOT4 is one of them. Readily available, including Walmart where the price is $2.60 for a 12 ounce can. That's 1/5 the price per-ounce of the GM brand. They perform about the same in my testing.
