[HELP] Shifter linkage disconnected...I hope

Called up "well known tuner" this AM and discussed the issue with them and they are washing their hands of it claiming they never disconnect the shifter rod from the tranny input rod. They instead disconnect the rod at the shifter and slide the tranny and shifter rod as a single unit apart from the Tq-Tube. Sounds kinda fishy to me. Anyone here know if this is a common practice?

Agreed, sounds like the roll pinwhere the shift rod attaches to the trans. You can leave the rod attached to the trans and remove the shifter housing, rod, and trans from the torque tube. On my trans, 01 Z06, there is a rubber boot that tightly covers the roll pin connection preventing it from falling out.
