Just my luck. Car hasn't given me any serious problems, and it's been running fantastic the past two months. I post it up for sale awhile back and develop this issue yesterday.
I hadn't driven the car in a few weeks, came out to the garage and found that it wouldn't start. I hook a battery charger up to the battery, and it starts up fine. I leave it idle in the garage for 5 minutes or so. Everything is still good. I drive out of my neighborhood and onto the highway. Once on the highway I get into it a little bit. Heard a loud bang from the rear that I thought was a backfire, but nothing else unusual. I get off the highway and notice that the car is idling way too high, about 1400rpm. If I'm in a gear running at lower than 1400rpm, the car increases speed and pushes itself to get to that rpm. Whenever I push in the clutch, the rpms jump to 2200 and sit there for a little bit before slowly dropping to 1400. It's very annoying at a light, it sounds like I'm getting ready to launch the car. Also, if I shut the car off and turn it on, the rpms immediately jump to ~2200 before settling back down at 1400 again. Used to idle right around 900 or so.
Check the airbridge connector and see if its slipped off the intake. Also look at the PCV valve connection tube to the intake port and make sure it hasn't developed a hole, especially on the bottom of it. Pull your codes. You might also need to do an "idle relearn".
Man, I wish the Vette idled a bit higher from the factory...when the engine is cold for the first minute or so, the computer sets the idle a bit higher and the sound is awesome with my Bullit exhaust...when you look at Ferrari, they have a much higher idle...sounds amazing when standing next to one...but glad you found the problem and it's back to normal.
