Need Help: Fuel Sensor

I was riding around Bowling Green Monday and my fuel gauge went from full to empty and the low fuel light came on. I pulled the code, P0461, Fuel Level Sensor 1 Circuit Performance. Can anyone tell me where this sensor is located and is this something I can do myself? Thanks.

the sensor is in the passenger side tank. Techron treatments in your fuel can usually get it solved. Pretty common, my '02z has done it and the Techron cured it for me.

I had the same problem with my 99 when I got some bad gas. Using Chevron supreme cured the problem. You can also buy two bottles of Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner and get the same results. Wal Mart $7.95 per bottle

TECHRON FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER!!!!!!!!!

It may take a few treatments! Reset the DTC and monitor the results!

Ditto to Bill Curlee...One bottle Techtron 2...reset DTC...hasn't done it since. Acted up for 5,000 miles until I joined this Forum and did SEARCH ! Thanks to all...
