There is frenchies who didn't like American people : they use to drive tiny/goofy/diesel powered cars ...
Let's not forget that "Corvette" is a French word to begin with. Corvettes were small, fast French Navy ships used in the 1600's. Thus the "fleur de lys" in the emblem.

Well actually the fluer-de-lis came to be as noted below as a replacement for the American flag because it was illegal to use the American flag on a commercial product at the time.
"Where did the fleur-de-lis come from? At the time, Chevrolet was conducting research on various emblem designs for the 1953 and 1954 passenger cars. They looked at the Louis Chevrolet family history in an attempt to discover a crest or some type of heraldry that they could utilize. Unfortunately, they came up empty, but they did realize that Chevrolet is a French name and the fleur-de-lis (flower of the lily) is a French symbol meaning peace and purity. They decided to use the fleur-de-lis along with the famous blue Chevrolet bow tie on a new flag which replaced the American flag on the Corvette. When the 1953 Corvette first appeared to the public at the Waldorf Historia Hotel, the redesigned emblems were in place."

I can't agree. I lived in France for four years and found the vast majority of French people to be warm, sympathetic, fun loving people. The few people I found rude were big city folk who would likely be rude anywhere in the world.
Interresting information.
I've never noticed the 'flower of lily / Fleur de Lis' on the logo.
In France, the Flower of lily is the symbol of the royalty (which ends up with the famous guillotine).
And camaro comes from the french word 'camarade' : pal, friend
